Newborns

Beautiful Babies Deserve Beautiful Portraits.

Are you expecting? No matter how far along you are, it’s not too early to think about newborn portraits. Whether a first time mom or a seasoned veteran, everyone can agree that the newborn stage absolutely flies by. As a mother myself, I cannot express the importance for everyone to freeze this short moment in time into beautiful portraits and memories that you will treasure forever. There’s nothing more precious than having those first few days of life captured, because before you know it, you’ll have a toddler running around the house and you will easily forget how tiny, how squishy, how serene and still your little one was.

Ready for Fun?

Many people choose to put off children or family portraits because they think their children are too little to cooperate, they will put their New Year’s resolution in effect NEXT year and lose those few extra pounds for a future session. Anyone can make a new excuse on a daily basis… I will tell you to take family pictures NOW and take them OFTEN! On location shoots are best for family portraits and definitely help put everyone at ease to make you look most natural. I love capturing your “real” family dynamic and try to keep sessions fun and energetic. Sometimes the best portraits are not formally posed, they are the ones where the parents are interacting with the kiddos, and yes, even with goofy grins.

About Me

First and foremost, I am a wife and a fairly new mom to a beautiful two year old little girl, named Ayla. (…and because we’ve heard so many variations of how to say her name, I’ll tell you now that it’s pronounced like Kayla, without the K!) I think that is what makes me love my job so much too. I left my “corporate job” the day she was born to be a stay-at-home-momma and to build upon my dream of a full-time photography business. With seeing how fast she grows and changes, now more than ever, I see the importance to continually take pictures of your kids and family. We only have these moments in our lives for such a brief time but can always look back and remember them easier when we document them with pictures.

So enough of my small rant there… and back to me… I have always been artsy. I graduated from what used to be CMSU with a degree in Graphic Design, and now that I look back, I don’t know WHY I didn’t just major in photography. I always LOVED taking photos and even took college courses in photography but never really thought of it as my serious career path.

I did the designer role for a few years and then ended up working full-time within the Hallmark Photography Studio amongst some of the most creative people I will probably ever meet. (No, I did NOT actually take pictures there, I was just a support staff.) At that time I was only doing photography as a “part-time career” on the side of my normal job. The plan was to see how much I could take on after Ayla was born.

I have been extremely blessed these past few years in both the mommy area and career area, and I couldn’t be more happy that I am finally doing what I know I’m good at and love.  I enjoy every aspect of photography and being able to make my design background relevant in the photography field has allowed me to excel in this career adventure.

I probably get more excited than my clients to get their images edited and online. I get pretty giddy about my sessions and I hope my excitement and energy can flow over onto you during your sessions! I can’t wait for the opportunity to meet you. I feel like each client becomes a friend to me and I love getting to be a part of your family for a little while.

“Amy Lee Photo is top notch! Our mini session with Amy was excellent! She truly captures beautiful pictures every time. She makes it so hard to chose which photographs you want, so I usually get them all! She is very good with kids and listens to what you want, and is very creative. Can’t wait to use her again!” ~ Chris and Jennifer T.

“Amy did a great job capturing the beautiful smiles and spirits of our kids. When I conveyed to her what we really wanted out of our session she made it happen. She was great with our kids (ages 2, 4 & 6). I finally have a picture of our whole family that I love! We will definitely call her when we are ready to do it all again.” ~ Amy S.

Investment

Many clients question why photographers such as myself cost more than a typical department store portrait session. Without trying to bore anyone, many people don’t understand until they see the actual break down of PERSONALIZED attention you actually receive from Amy Lee Photo.

My goal as a photographer is to wholly satisfy you as a client. I strive to create original images tailored to you, your personality, your family and the location you choose, which is a HUGE difference from a department store or chain photography company. I pride myself in the flexibility and time I spend prepping, individualizing and editing your session, while many other places just try to shuffle you in and shuffle you out with set ups that they’ve used hundreds of times!

Below is what you should expect for me to pour into your portraits. I know how important portraits are to YOU and I want YOU to realize how important they are to ME as well. Photography is an investment that will last forever and that’s one thing I cherish about this job. I want everyone to look at their portraits years down the line and remember what a great experience it was and delight in that time of their lives.

The truth of the matter is as a professional photographer, much of the cost differences you see in comparison to department stores has a lot to do with the time, equipment costs, artistic vision and reputation of the photographer not to mention expertise and the usual costs of running a legitimate business.

Here is an example of a time break down and individualization you will have to YOUR specific session:

  • Booking time and session information – 30 minutes
  • Pre-session prep time to set up equipment and prop selection – 30 minutes to 1 hour
  • Travel time to on location shoots – 30 minutes
  • Portrait Session Time – 1.5 to 2 hours
  • Uploading images and backing up files on the computer – 30 minutes
  • Gallery image editing – 2 to 6 hours depending on session type
  • Setting up online gallery for client viewing – 30 minutes to 1 hour
  • Checking and placing client orders – 30 minutes to 1 hour
  • And any additional time needed for client questions, session time or ordering

In this example, the time spent per client can range from around 6.5 hours to 11.5 hours – dependent on the client’s needs and session type. This is time dedicated only to ONE session. When you’re charged a SITTNG FEE for the photo shoot you are not just paying for the two hours of session time, you are paying the photographer for the complete time allowed from booking your session to shipping of prints!

I hope this quick break down helps shed some light on WHY Amy Lee Photo is a better choice for your family’s memories. The photographs that are produced as a result of my professionalism and dedication as your photographer will be cherished for a lifetime (or more) and great thought and consideration should be placed into hiring who is right for your family’s most precious investment.

If you feel I’m the right person to serve you I would love to hear from you!
